1. Computer Technology where it began ...
Computing Technology has been around a long time, however, this story begins with the advancement that can be traced back to the work of a man named Allan Turing. He is considered to be the visionary architect of the digital age.
In 1936, Turing introduced the Turing Machine, a mathematical model that proved a single machine could perform any task if it were given the right set of instructions (software). During WWII Allan led the team at Bletchley Park that cracked the German "Enigma" code. He designed an electromechanical device he called Bombe that accelerated the decrption process, potentially shortening the war by years.
Ian's exposure to computer technology and software began in the early 1970's soon after he started his career as a permanent employee.

2. Imagination ...
Ian developed a good imagination in early childhood. There weren't many toys around in the 1950's; food was still on ration and there were no supermarkets in the Yorkshire village where Ian lived. Television was 405 line VHF very high frquency and there were only two channels only one of the two the BBC the British Broadcasting Corporation had good reception.
Ian and his friends had pen knives, they used them to cut the pithy stems from Elderberry bushes and imagined they were people they had learned about in history lessons at school. They imagined they were "The Romans", "Cavaliers" or "Roundheads" and more ... and they marched to places often miles away on adventures. When it rained they imagined the design of new cars and sheltered in outdoor dens.
Ian became partially disabled by Perthes disease in childhood and had a major operation in 1958 that resulted in him missing a full year at school, it took him many years to recover from being one year behind other children at school of a simailar age.
Ian believes that imagination is often a pre-curser to reality.
